Moemi Sasaki Solo Exhibition "Shells in the City"
ROD GALLERY
RODGALLERY is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of Moemi Sasaki . This will be Sasaki's first solo exhibition in Tokyo.
Sasaki is based in Kyoto, Japan, and in recent years has been collecting pieces of ceramics from the river that runs through Kyoto City, and using lacquer to join them together to create Kintsugi and Yobitsugi works.
We invite you to view the works of Moemi Sasaki, who creates stories for the future by carefully joining pieces of the past that he has scooped up one by one with her own hands.
Please come and see her works.
ーーーーー
I learned that many pieces of ceramics had fallen into the Takase River that runs through the city of Kyoto.
The scattered pieces of porcelain are like empty shells,
They are like empty shells,
They are like empty shells, and we can catch a glimpse of people's lives.
When pieces of discarded vessels are joined together with the power of lacquer, they take on the form of vessels once again,
It reminds us that the river, the city, and our lives are connected to the past.
